Cenote Zací
Located in the heart of the city of Valladolid, Cenote Zací is one of the most popular spots to enjoy a refreshing swim in its crystal-clear turquoise waters. In addition to its stunning beauty, this cenote is home to a unique species of black, blind fish known as "lub." Inside the cenote, you can admire impressive formations of stalactites and stalagmites that cover approximately one-third of its natural structure, creating a fascinating underground landscape.
Cenote Dzinup or Kekén
Just 7 km southwest of Valladolid, Cenote Dzinup, also known as Kekén, is situated within an impressive underground chamber. Its vibrant turquoise waters are naturally illuminated by a beam of light that penetrates through an opening in the central vault. The shallow waters are so clear and clean that you can observe the fish that inhabit them. It's an ideal spot for swimming and enjoying the natural surroundings. The cenote is open to the public from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Cenotillo
The picturesque village of Cenotillo owes its name to the astonishing number of cenotes found both in the urban area and its surroundings. According to locals, there are over 150 cenotes in the region, many of which are hidden in the jungle and require the guidance of farmers to visit. Among the most notable are the cenotes Kaipech, Xayín, and Ucil, offering an authentic and natural experience for adventurers willing to explore them.
Cenote Xlacah
Situated in the archaeological zone of Dzibilchaltún, Cenote Xlacah is the closest open cenote to the city of Mérida. Its name, which means "ancient village," reflects the deep historical and cultural connection of the region. This cenote features a sloping depth that extends into an unknown distance. In addition to enjoying a refreshing swim, visitors can observe endemic fish that inhabit only the cenotes of Yucatán. The cenote is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and admission is free on Sundays and public holidays.
